We would appreciate your assistance with this research project on personality, emotions, and nutrition-related goals. The project is being conducted by Alisha Wimberly, Deniz Tahiroglu, and Kimberly Angelo from the University of Oregon Psychology Department.
This is a three-part study: the first part will be completed today, the second part a week from today, and the third part two weeks from today. Each session will last about 10 minutes. In each section, you will be asked questions about a particular goal that you have and complete a couple personality questionnaires.
In the first part of this study, you will create a secure username and password so that you may log on over the next two weeks. In one week, and then one week after that, you will receive a reminder email asking you to log in and complete the next session. You will also be asked to provide us with an email address so that we may contact you to take part in the second and third sessions.
Any information that is obtained in connection with this study and that can be identified with you will remain confidential and will be disclosed only with your permission. For this study, you will be asked to create a username and password that will exist for the duration of the study. The username will only be used to connect information between various parts of the study, and will be destroyed after the study is over so that it is not in any way connected to your name. Your email will not be used in any way, other than to inform you about sessions 2 and 3.
Your participation is voluntary. We do not expect you to experience any discomfort beyond the range of everyday life. We will do everything we can to maintain your privacy and confidentiality. If you do become uncomfortable during this series of questionnaires, you may discontinue participation at any time. If you choose to discontinue, we ask you to contact the researchers at kangelo[at]uoregon.edu and awimberl[at]uoregon.edu. Additionally, if any question or questionnaire makes you feel uncomfortable, you may choose to skip the question, or to skip the questionnaire. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your relationship with the University of Oregon, the Department of Psychology, or the researchers conducting this experiment. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw your consent and discontinue participation at any time. Responses will be completely confidential, and your name will not appear anywhere on the survey or be recorded by the researchers.
